Jason Mitchener

Jason Mitchener    &nbspHere are some of Jason's songs:

     I Fly to the Fountain
Let Your Love Flow Through Me
     Listen With Your Heart
Love Ain't a One Night Stand
     Man of Sorrows
     The Thunder of His Power
     Walking With the Wounded
     When Jesus Called Your Name
     Within Me
     You Are Near

Jason Mitchener has always had a love for words, from writing short stories and poems in high school to his current love of lyric writing. Jason says: "It wasn't until I became a Christian that my writing found purpose." Raised in an Eastern religion, Jason didn't become a Christian until the age of nineteen, when the parachurch organization Campus Crusade for Christ shared the Gospel with him.

Jason started writing Christian lyrics soon after he got saved. A few years later, he found himself in a hospital bed hooked up to a ventilator because of a progressive neuromuscular disease. "The next six months, I gave up on God. And without God, my writing also stopped," he says. When Jason came back to God, his lyric writing returned. He would often dictate lyrics to nurses or other medical staff since he couldn't use his hands to write. Now Jason types his lyrics on a computer by using a stick held between his teeth.

For many years, Jason was frustrated in his songwriting because he couldn't find composers to write the much-needed melodies for his words. "God changed that by leading me to a songwriting group on the Internet." That group is the Christian Songwriting Organization, founded by songwriter Dave Byers. Here Jason found songwriters such as Steve Cass that he could collaborate with on songs. "This group has opened so many doors for me," Jason says.

Besides songwriting, Jason also writes a semi-daily devotional called Just Passing Through. Also, visit his personal website.
