Born in Los Angeles, CA, Kathryn's father was a military man and so the family moved "all over God's green earth", she exclaims with blue eyes rolled. She found that she enjoyed escaping with poetry writing early in life and was searching for God. She wrote mainly about life and expressed her deepest thoughts and feelings. She sensed that God was "out there" somewhere, but never could quite understand.

The last two years of high school and all of college for Kathryn were in Tucson, Arizona. As a young adult in 1982, she decided to strike out on her own and moved to Dallas, Texas where she began a career in commercial real estate.

It was 1985 and she said she still didn't know God. In spite of it, Kathryn tells how He began showing her the future in a vision. "Almost everytime I closed my eyes, this vision would appear. It was a sensing that He was making it all ok. I would have need of nothing. And, It gave me great peace." Before her daughter was born in 1986, she asked Jesus into her heart. "I'll never forget the day and time. I was sitting on the couch praying. Just then, a soft white light peaked through the clouds and directed a beam of sun from the window behind me. It illuminated the room. Peace swallowed the entire place. And, it was then that I knew. It wasn't a feeling. It was a knowing that I was safe within Him."

Since she's come to realize that God is there for her, He has spoken to her ("probably much like He has lots of other people", she says). One of the great visions He gave her was when He inaudibly told her that she would be giving Him glory with a music ministry. Being unsure of exactly how this would come to be, she held the vision close to her heart and joined the church choir! Not long after joining, she was asked to commit to being a worship team leader. Still not quite sure of what this had to do with her call, some of the church musicians persistently approached her about songwriting. It was one of those occasions when she realized the fulfillment of the vision and knew it was from God.

"Since that time, God has brought me together with this great team of talented musicians and artists at Solid Walnut. I'm looking forward to the great things in our future!"
